Diagnostics:

A common tree of about 20m found in our nature reserves, and especially common along Champeria trail at MacRitchie Reservoir. The leaves are narrowly obovate, with a thick mid rib on the underside, and indistinct secondary veins. The margins are finely and usually irregularly serrated, and tapered to a short stalk.


Interesting Facts:

The bark is sometimes used for tanning fish-nets (Corner, 1997).
