Sonerila obliqua is generally found on rocks or dead logs near freshwater streams in our nature reserves. The young leaves have attractive white spots on the upper surface, which appear to fade later. The margins are mildly and minutely serrated, and the underside typically has red-purple venations.
It can be differentiated from other congeners here with its flowers having six stamens (Meyer et., 2001).
